Blurriness is often caused by a smudged or dirty lens, which can be easily cleaned, or an insufficient charge. Please follow the steps listed below to help clear up the images. If the issue persists after following these steps, please email us at help@blueberrypediatrics.com. Be sure to include your recorded video, and we will be happy to offer further assistance!
1. Please fully charge your otoscope with the manufacturer-provided charger for 20 mins. (Fast chargers might damage the otoscope - therefore, it is imperative that the otoscope is charged with the manufacturer-provided charger).
2. Clean the camera lens on the otoscope.*
*ITEMS NEEDED: Rubbing alcohol and Q-tip. Please dip a Q-tip into some rubbing alcohol and clean the otoscope lens. After cleaning it, please wait 15 seconds, and then use the clean end of the Q-tip to wipe the lens. The alcohol cleans the lens really well for a crisp/clear image, and the Q-tip helps clean the lens ridges. Alcohol-prepped pads help to clean the otoscope wand, but they’re not-so-great for the lens where the ridges need a good cleaning.
3. Connect your otoscope to the otoscope app and start a video recording.
4. Point the otoscope at your finger and move the otoscope slowly towards your finger.
5. Keep going closer until you see the ridges on your finger - you may have to get really close to your finger.
6. If you're able to see the ridges on your finger clearly, the otoscope is working properly. The distance your otoscope is from your finger is how far it needs to be from your child's eardrum.
